St. Paul’s Within the Walls has always had a reputation as an outstanding venue for classical music in Rome, with high quality concerts and a wide variety of music on offer. Whilst during the week Opera music is the focus, on Sundays and Mondays concerts include music of every period, chamber, choral and symphonic, including organ recitals on the exciting St Paul’s organ.
Our on going Concert Series “Luminaria – Music by Candlelight” was conceived 20 years ago and has become a widely anticipated event in our city. It has held host to internationally acclaimed artists including organists Daniel Roth, Martin Sander, Juan Paradell Solé, Stephen Hamilton, Christopher Herrick, Daniele Matrone and Loreto Aramendi; Soloists Nina Beilina, Mirta Herrera, Giuseppe Devastato, Ludovica Rana, Mario d’Agosto, Francesco Taranto, Rune Most, David Geringas; conductors Nicola Samale, Ronen Borshevsky, Claus Efland, Claudio Maria Micheli; leading vocal ensembles from Italy (Coro Città di Roma, Musicanova) and abroad (the choirs of Norwich, Exeter and Ely Cathedral from England), the Amercan Naval Academy Men’s & Women’s Glee Clubs and many other fantastic musicians.
This year we are honoured to welcome among others the conductors Tom Hammond–Davies, Nicola Samale and Andreas Leisner; organists Giandomenico Piermarini, Josep Solé Coll and Livia Mazzanti; soloists Peter-Lukas Graf, Alessandro Milana and Saria Convertino and, form England, the choir “In Voco Parentis” of King’s College School, Cambridge.
